BEHIND THE LENS
Photographs alter and enlarge our notions of the world. Susan Sontag said that photographs are a grammar and, even more importantly, an ethics of seeing. It is my belief that what is significant lies often not in what we see, but in how we see. I strive constantly to challenge my own perceptions and while doing so, hope to capture something illustrious and unique through my lens.
Photographs lure us intimately into worlds that we otherwise may never behold, and as Sontag argued, the most grandiose result of the photographic enterprise is to give us the sense that we can hold the whole world in our heads. I desire that my work contributes something unique to the catalog of images that shape our notions of the world.
